Art Vault respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Art Vault app and website, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it.
1. About Art Vault
Art Vault is a platform for artists and collectors that provides artwork registration, digital artwork identities, authenticity verification, certificates, provenance records and ownership management.
This policy applies to the Art Vault mobile application and related Art Vault services operated through a-v.uk.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Art Vault, we may collect the following information:
Account information
- Email address
- User/account ID
- Information associated with your Art Vault account
Artwork and user content
- Artwork photographs and images uploaded to Art Vault
- Artwork titles, descriptions and related information
- Provenance information
- Ownership information
- Information submitted when transferring or accepting ownership of artwork
- Other information you choose to provide in connection with your artwork or collection
Subscription information
If you purchase an Art Vault Artist subscription, we receive information necessary to recognise and manage your subscription and activate the relevant features of your Art Vault account.
Payments made through the Apple App Store are processed by Apple. Art Vault does not receive or store your full credit or debit card details through the App Store purchase process.

We use information collected through Art Vault to:
- Create and maintain your Art Vault account
- Authenticate users
- Register and manage artwork
- Create and maintain artwork identities
- Display artwork and related information
- Provide artwork verification and authenticity services
- Create certificates and provenance records
- Record and manage changes of artwork ownership
- Provide your personal collection/vault
- Provide artist publishing and subscription features
- Process and verify Art Vault subscription status
- Maintain the security and operation of the service
- Respond to enquiries and provide support
- Comply with legal obligations where applicable
We do not use your email address, artwork images or other user content for third-party advertising or targeted advertising.
4. Artwork and public information
When an artist registers or publishes artwork, some artwork information may be made available to other users or visitors to Art Vault.
This may include information necessary to identify and verify an artwork, such as its artwork identity, certificate, provenance information and ownership history.
Artists should therefore avoid submitting information they do not wish to be associated with a published artwork.
5. Ownership and provenance
Art Vault is designed to maintain an ongoing identity and history for registered artwork.
When ownership of an artwork is transferred, information relating to that transfer may be recorded as part of the artwork’s provenance history.
This allows the history of an artwork to remain associated with its Art Vault identity as ownership changes.
6. App Store purchases
Artist subscriptions purchased through the Art Vault iOS application are processed through Apple’s App Store and Apple’s in-app purchase system.
Art Vault receives the information required to verify and manage the subscription and provide the associated Art Vault features.
Apple’s own terms and privacy policy also apply to information Apple collects in connection with App Store purchases.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share or provide access to information where necessary to operate Art Vault, provide its features, maintain security, process services, or comply with legal obligations.
Where third-party service providers are used to provide parts of the Art Vault service, they may process information on our behalf where necessary for those services.
We do not share email addresses or other personal information with third parties for targeted advertising.
8. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information held by Art Vault against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
9. How long we keep information
We retain account, artwork, provenance and ownership information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Art Vault service and maintain the records associated with registered artwork, or where retention is required for legal or legitimate business purposes.
Where information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise it where appropriate.

Some information relating to artwork identity, provenance or ownership may need to be retained where necessary to maintain the integrity and historical record of registered artwork or where required by law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Art Vault, our services or applicable legal requirements.
